One of the UK’s leading providers of care for vulnerable young people has increased its presence in North Cumbria with the reopening of Amble Cottage.
Leeds-based Pebbles Care has invested more than £50,000 into turning the well-appointed bungalow into a loving and caring home where three young people, aged between 7 and 16 years-old, will get access to the support they need to overcome personal issues and enjoy a fresh start in life.
Located between Penrith and Keswick, the property has fantastic views over Blencathra and the surrounding fells, with the individuals living there playing a key role in choosing the décor and layout of the property, including the recent installation of a hot tub.
It takes the company’s footprint in the region to five homes and the number of vulnerable children it is supporting to 15.
Demand for its unique ‘therapeutic parenting’ approach from local authorities has grown rapidly and Pebbles Care has launched a major local recruitment drive to recruit seven people.
This includes positions for a Registered Manager, a Deputy Manager and Residential Child Care workers.
“Everything we do starts with ‘how can we provide better care and how can we make children’s lives better?’, it’s as simple as that,” explained Mark Williams, Director of Operations at Pebbles.
“Our philosophy is rooted in creating a loving home that gives young people a safe space where we can work with them to tackle some of the issues they are living with.”
He continued: “Amble Cottage is perfect for this, and we are delighted to have transformed it into another home that will nurture children, giving them the opportunity to flourish.
“The living space is just the start and then our tailored therapeutic parenting plan comes into play, with our team of psychologists and care practitioners building safe relationships that provide structure and high levels of nurturing care.
“Young people are also supported to access education either from our own in-house education service or in local mainstream schools and, for the older children we look after, help with finding college or work experience placements.”
Pebbles Care has been supporting some of the most vulnerable young people for more than 17 years.
It currently works closely with local authorities to place children from 8 to 18 years-old into one of its 47 family-led homes across England and Scotland, with care practitioners and its team of innovative psychologists developing bespoke therapeutic parenting plans for each child.
The residencies range from solo homes to 4-person homes, ensuring the right dynamic is created and that each young person has the appropriate care and support.
