We are delighted to announce that we have been named as a finalists in the ‘Training Partner of the Year’ category at the prestigious Semta Skills Awards 2019.
This is the first time we have made it through to the final three and will now compete against GRWP Llandrillo Menai and Skills UK for the prestigious title that recognises some of the UK’s leading organisations involved in skills.
The next stage is hosting a film crew in the New Year where we will look to bring our application to life to convince judges that the work we have done in ‘engaging the disengaged’ is having a profound effect on bridging the skills gaps.
Gareth Jones, joint Managing Director, was delighted with the news: “Our employer-led approach is really reaping dividends with our three state-of-the-art Technical Academies in Aldridge, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury helping us to get over 450 businesses on board with apprenticeships and upskilling opportunities.
“We listened to what firms wanted, but rather than just try to act on it on our own, we decided to challenge manufacturers to take a more active role by donating experts, technology and investing in the future we are trying to build.”
He continued: “It is an approach that is working. In a period where apprenticeships have declined by 67%, In-Comm has reported a 40% uptake thanks to our commitment to the employer-led model. Better still, apprentice achievement rates are 86%, outperforming the national average by nearly 20%.”
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony hosted by BBC journalist, presenter and engineering advocate Steph McGovern on Thursday 21 March 2018 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.
